2012 OVA!

Congratulations to all of the teams participating in the Olympics of the Visual Arts on May 2nd at the Saratoga City center. There were over 900 students and 30 districts in the competition from the Buffalo region to Long Island. Maple Hill had categories in Fashion Design (Aubrey Kirsch, Brittney Geracitano and Oteria Ludwig), Illustration (Kirsten Geracitano, Jennie Buckley), Photography (Franco Fettuccia and Matthew Fiebke) and Drawing (Ian Myers). Ian Myers took home the second place state award in the Drawing category and Kirsten Geractiano and Jennie Buckley took home second place state award in Illustration. Congrats to them and all of our teams. The problems and solutions can be found in the back of the library for your viewing pleasure. Thanks also to Stuart Allen, Phil Prinzo and Jeremy Hempstead for all of your help!

Congrats to our Middle School Team for also taking home second place in the Middle School Illustration Category!
The Olympics of the Visual Arts (OVA) program provides an opportunity for students to participate in individual or group artistic problem solving. A new series of problems is posed every fall. Students create long-range solutions at their schools, and travel to the Albany area to compete on short-range problems in a day-long celebration of creativity. There are awards for each of the problem categories at every level.

This year was OVA's 30th anniversary. Schodack Central Schools participated in the first OVA 30 years ago! We even had a visit from Mrs. Gregoire and her adorable daughter! All projects can be found in the back of the high school library for your viewing pleasure!
